What to watch: Mission Impossible 5 and Paper Towns

So in the last few days I've seen both Paper Towns and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and long story short I really enjoyed them both!
MI: Rogue Nation picks up shortly after the events of Ghost Protocol and I am happy to report that this film is even better than the last. While still boasting huge stunts and action scenes, this film also felt very reminiscent of the intensity and suspensefullness of the first movie in the franchise, which if you ask me are a winning combination. We are introduced to a few new mysterious characters which is always fun but the best part of these movies is the chemistry between Hunt and his team which make for plenty of laughs and excitement. Something I noticed about this movie though is the fact that Ethan Hunt is borderline super human in this! Seriously some of the things he survives are insane but I think that's explained throughout the film in that not only is Hunt absurdly good at his job but in his career he's also been incredibly "lucky" which if you look back at some of the things he's done you'd see what they meant. This is a great fun summer blockbuster and I can't wait to see how this team tops the crazy situations they got into here. Rating: FULL PRICE!

Paper Towns is another John Green story turned movie and like it's predecessor "The Fault in our Stars" this movie was made for a very specific demographic. If you've seen the trailer it doesn't seem like something you'd be into then you're probably not going to enjoy this. I personally felt the story and characters were very charming and short of a few certain aspects of some of the characters the film as a whole was mostly enjoyable.
The friendships, relationships and portrayal of high school life felt very real which was refreshing. As a person who hadn't read the book I was happy with the film and so was my girlfriend whom had read the book. Is it the best movie I've seen all summer? Absolutely not, but do I regret seeing this? No. If you really care for this movie than you've probably seen it already otherwise I'd recommend just to wait to rent this.
Rating: RENTAL.

What to watch: Ant-Man (2015)

With the huge success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe it'd be difficult to find someone who hasn't already seen marvel's latest film. If you are one of the few people on the fence about seeing this film I'm here to tell you it's a damn good time at the movies!
Sure not everyone is a die hard fanboy but honestly this film while having many connections to all the other MCU films is very easy to enjoy without prior knowledge or context.
Since it's announcement many have speculated that this film would be the first marvel film to fail due to it's more obscure protagonist. The same things were said about Guardians of The Galaxy and now "Groot" is a household name! So I'm not too worried about how much of a financial success this will be.
The movie starts off with good music and sets the tone right from the get go, making you aware that this is a light hearted action comedy much like several other of marvels films. It's no surprise that Paul Rudd as Scott Lang brought the laughs but I sure as hell wasn't expecting Michael Peña to absolutely steal every scene he was in! Michael Douglas was great as Hank Pym and I very much enjoyed his story arc but I honestly can't say the same for Evangeline Lilly and her portrayal of Pym's daughter Hope Van Dyne sadly. Hopefully she will give a better performance in future films she's in.
Like most of the marvel origins films, we're given an easily forgettable villain which is sad because I'm a fan of Corey Stall and would've loved to see him grow to be a much bigger threat for Lang in a future Ant-Man movie. The use of large and small scale set pieces is very very enjoyable and it added a wonderfully fresh aspect to the action and fight scenes we've seen in other marvel movies. I personally didn't see this in 3D but I have heard that the use of 3D was very immersive and you'd benefit from seeing it in that format if you're open to that. The movie made an effort to indicate that this was not a job for an entire team of super heroes therefore explaining why the avengers weren't involved and I really liked that. All in all I enjoyed the movie and I'm sure most of you will, especially if you're already a fan of the MCU! I'm going to give this a Full Price and say see it ASAP! Also remember that there's a scene shortly before the full credits start and another (Huge) one after the last of the credits roll so be sure to stick around if you're into that. Once again thanks for taking the time to read my review and I hope you have a great time at the movies.

Suicide Squad - Comic-Con First Look [HD]

After the leaking of the Comic Con footage for the film, director David Ayer expressed his feelings on the matter on twitter saying that wasn't how he intended for people to see the trailer. He went on to "make it right" by having the studio officially release the trailer on Legendary's youtube. Check it out here!

SDCC panels for Star Wars, Batman V. Superman and More!

On the first full day of San Diego Comic Con we've seen some pretty amazing things!
Here I've gathered some that I feel are the most anticipated panels from 2015 Comic Con.

First off the wonderful panel for Star Wars Ep. 7
Another great video shared during the Star Wars panel was the BtS footage that for the movie.
Next up was the panel for Warner Bros. Batman v. Superman be sure to check it out to see Batfflek's impression of Chritian Bale.

Moving along with more DC superhero films we have here the panel for Suicide Squad! Can't wait to see Leto as the Joker! check it out here.

I'll be updating this post with more panels as the are uploaded so stay tuned!

What to watch: Mad Max Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road is....intense, brutal and most of all ALIVE!
This movie had me excited since it's announcement along with the casting of Tom Hardy as the lead. Every poster and trailer leading up until the release of the film was beautiful and captured the tone of the film perfectly.
Max is mysterious and quiet while still seeming cool and just a bit unhinged while the world around him feels fleshed out and all of these characters seem real. The action is non stop right from the beginning and doesn't let up very much until the credits role!
There's humor, there's action and while the plot is minimal it isn't just a turn your brain off and enjoy type of film. The scenery is beautiful and the music is just as intense as the action sequences with the war drums pounding and a flame throwing guitar playing psycho riding a monster of a vehicle!
The use of cgi is kept to a minimum and many will embrace the abundant use of stuntmen and crazy post apocalyptic vehicles in all of the chase scenes.
All in all I must say Mad Max: Fury Road is just a roller coaster ride of fun and if I had to say anything negative about it'd be the sound mixing at times. For example many of the voices of the characters where almost completely incomprehensible and I'll probably have to wait until it's bluray release to watch the film with subtitles. Other than that I very much enjoyed the movie and I highly recommend it if you're a fan of action films.
Rating: Full Price!

Set photos of Captain America: Civil War

This week we've gotten our first looks onto the set of the HUGELY anticipated marvel film Captain America 3: Civil War and while we see several things that are to be expected we also caught a glimpse of some things that will be meant as a sort of dramatic point in the film.

Here we see Cap in what looks like an African setting which we can assume is the fictional country of Wakanda since we know it is the homeland of upcoming super hero Black Panther and it was also hinted at in Avengers AoU.

Another photo from the same scene. If you're interested in finding out more about Wakanda and it's hero Black Panther watch this video here

Not much is new in regards to Anthony Mackie and his character Falcon. I imagine we'll see him play the same role of a sidekick in this as he did in Cap 2.

As seen in these photos we will also see Cap attend a funeral of an unknown person but we do know the person was close enough to have Rogers serve as a pallbearer!

From this photo we can gather that the deceased is british since the flag over the casket seems to be Union Jack. Peggy Carters death is everyone's best guess and I'm thinking the same.

Now most importantly we get our first look at Frank Grillo in costume as villain, Crossbones! I personally think he looks very cool and I did like his character in Cap 2.

So there you have it folks some on set first looks at some of the characters of Captain America 3: Civil War! Are you excited? Do you like crossbone's look in the film? Let me know in the comments here or on any of the social media outlets I shared this on!

"Vacation" Red Band Trailer

Are you excited for this? I know remakes and reboots get a lot of hate, but the fact that this seems very self aware and even includes a joke about the fact that it is a reboot gives it a sort of 21 Jump Street vibe, which I'm glad to see.

What to watch: Avengers: Age of Ultron

So I tried making a video review for this but for some reason I kept messing it up and starting from scratch and I feel like I'm never going to get it done. So I've decide just to write it out instead so I hope you don't mind.
Like many many people around the world I went to go see Avengers: AoU this weekend and I hadn't voiced this opinion much before but I wasn't as excited as I thought I was going to be! Not because I don't like marvel movies or because the movie itself didn't look good but because the news that the MCU will be moving into two of the biggest storylines in marvel history with Civil War and Infinity War. Those two future movies made this movie feel a bit smaller in scope and the stakes didn't feel as high knowing we'd for sure see most of these characters in the future. With all of that said I must admit I very very much enjoyed every second of this movie. Joss Whedon has tied all of the previous stories together masterfully and it was a pleasant surprise to see certain secondary characters be fleshed out and shine amongst the likes of Tony, Cap and Thor. The creation of the villainous Ultron felt somewhat rushed but that can most likely be blamed on the studio wanting a shorter runtime and more action since Whedon's original cut of the movie is said to be 40 minutes longer than the theatrical release! Along with a longer version of the film an alternate ending is said to exist so make sure to pick up the bluray once it's out to  see all of that. So back to the good and the bad of the movie, Spader as the voice of Ultron was great but the portrayal was very different from the menacing artificial intelligence we saw in the trailers. Ultron in the film takes his personality from his creator Tony Stark so you can imagine he's humorous and a bit of a smart ass. Was it bad? No. It was just different from what was originally advertised.
The action was on point as is expected but at certain points the CGI was obvious but that's mostly just because some of these characters are doing super over the top stunts that could only be captured by special effects. The dialogue felt a lot more polished as opposed to the first film and the banter between the characters was even better. What more can I say besides the movie was fun as hell and it's awesome to see more and more people accepting these things that were at one point strictly nerd culture. Overall I really enjoyed this movie and I highly recommend seeing it in the theaters! I give this an enthusiastic FULL PRICE. If you'd like to discuss the movie more in detail please drop me a comment on any of the social media outlets I shared this on.

David Ayer tweets first look at cast of SUICIDE SQUAD

I'm not very excited about this since they all look so bland and none of them stand out. This is as "generic action movie" as any comic book movie has or ever will be. Let's hope any future looks at the movie will change my mind.

Disney's Tomorrowland - Official Trailer 3

Brad Bird is one of the most stylistic directors in the business right now and this trailer shows it! This looks outstanding and like a wonderfully crafted living world that only someone like Burd can create. Check out the full trailer here.

Jurassic World - Official Global Trailer (HD)

This trailer has me a little worried. I'm still very very very excited about this movie but I feel like this movie will just be a monster movie and won't have the heart and charm that the first film did. Obviously I shouldn't compare to the first that's just something small that bothered me. Anyway enough rambling check out the new action packed trailer for Jurassic World here.

FANTASTIC FOUR - Official Trailer #2 (2015) Superhero Movie HD

Now this is starting to actually look like a Fantastic Four movie. The latest trailer for the upcoming reboot is here and it shows a less dark and foreboding side of the movie with humor sprinkled here and there making this a bit more promising. I'm glad to see our first look at Doctor Doom and the trailer overall was good. Check it out here.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice - Official Teaser Trailer [HD]

Like I mentioned in my Instagram post I wouldn't be sharing the leaked version of this trailer since I was fairly certain Warner Bros. would just release the high def official trailer soon after much like Marvel did when the first Avengers: AoU trailer was leaked. So here it is and let me tell you it is very dark and gritty but is that what you wanted from this movie? Many have complained by the direction DC and Snyder have decided to take with these movies but I personally can't complain since it's looking to be a good movie so far. What did you think about Batflek? I think he looks like a perfect Bruce Wayne and his batman has me very very excited. Check out the trailer here.

Marvel's Ant-Man - Trailer 1

The first official full length trailer for Marvel's Ant-Man is here and it shows an almost different movie as the first teaser trailer! We see much more story and a lot more of the power elements of Ant-Mans character. This makes me even more excited for this movie. Check it out here.

Southpaw Official Trailer #1 (2015) - Jake Gyllenhaal

Since it's announcement and after seeing his performance in Nightcrawler, I've been dying to see what Jake Gyllenhaal does next. Southpaw is looks as intense and hard hitting as any of Gyllenhaal's last performances and I'm very excited to see it. I did have somewhat of a problem with the amount of footage that was revealed to us. The trailer is the first for the movie and it already has setup the movie as well as spoiling some of the more pivotal scenes in the film but nonetheless I'm very excited for this.

SPECTRE TEASER TRAILER

The teaser trailer for the next James Bond film is finally here and it gives off a very ominous tone which hopefully means we'll see Bond face his greatest villain yet! Check out the teaser here.

Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation - Fate

Finally after much anticipation and not much information we have our first look at the next installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise. The last film "Ghost Protocol" was a huge hit and I personally feel it broke all expectations and set the bar pretty high for it's next movie. Christopher McQuarrie is stepping in as director in place of Brad Bird whom I feel is mostly responsible for Ghost Protocol's surprising quality. McQuarrie has worked with Cruise twice before as director on Jack Reacher (which I loved btw) and as writer on the hugely popular Edge of Tomorrow. The trailer showcases some of the crazy stunts involved which Cruise himself preformed and one of the main reasons the last film felt so grand in scale. Make sure to check the trailer out here.

Tomorrowland - A World Beyond - UK Trailer 2 - Official Disney | HD

So the final trailer for Brad Bird's upcoming Tomorrowland is out and it features a ton of new footage and dialogue from the characters! Not too much of the story is spoiled in the trailer so don't worry about that but we are given a closer look at the scifi world Bird has created as well as a first look at some of the secondary characters.
Anyway enough of that check out the trailer for Tomorrowland here.

Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron UK trailer 3 OFFICIAL | HD

Marvel has released a new trailer today and it has a lot of new footage along with more of ultron and the twins get more screen time as well. In bigger news we get our first real look at Paul Bettany as The Vision but he's never really mentioned in the trailer so something tells me he won't be present for a large portion of the film.
I know the photo is dark but it's what I was able to screenshot since it's so quick. Check out the new trailer here.

News has just broken on Marvel's Twitter that Marvel and Sony have come to terms regarding the rights of everyone's favorite web slinger!

From Marvel.com "Under the deal, the new Spider-Man will first appear in a Marvel film from Marvel's Cinematic Universe (MCU). Sony Pictures will thereafter release the next installment of its $4 billion Spider-Man franchise, on July 28, 2017, in a film that will be co-produced by Kevin Feige and his expert team at Marvel and Amy Pascal, who oversaw the franchise launch for the studio 13 years ago. Together, they will collaborate on a new creative direction for the web slinger. Sony Pictures will continue to finance, distribute, own and have final creative control of the Spider-Man films."

POLTERGEIST Trailer #1 (2015) Sam Rockwell Horror Movie HD

This is a remake so the fact that it uses some of the cliche horror tropes is understandable but I can't shake the feeling of how generic this looks. I'll definitely be watching it because I think it has potential and I think Sam Rockwell is great but this trailer heavily implies that the movie will focus on jump scares instead of the connection between the family that made the original so great. Here's hoping it's good. Check out the first full trailer here.

Magic Mike XXL, Teaser Trailer, Official Warner Bros. UK

I'm sure a lot of guys won't admit it but I thought the first magic mike was decent. Channing Tatum is charismatic and made for a fun movie about male strippers. The trailer for the second film has dropped and it doesn't show much of a plot but it definitely feels bigger in scale than the first film and it seems more like a dance movie which I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not. Check it out here.
