Ted 2 - Official Trailer (HD)

So let me start off by saying I wasn't a huge fan of the first Ted but I didn't hate it. It was decent and original although I don't always like Seth Mcfarlane's humor. This looks very creative and like a smooth transition into the sequel which not a lot of movies can do today. This trailer makes me actually want to see this which I didn't think would happen. Again I won't be running out to see this but I'll be willing to give it a chance. If you haven't seen the trailer check it out below.

Fantastic Four (2015) First official trailer!

The first official trailer for Fantastic Four is here and I'm pretty excited to see this. Fox has done an impressive job keeping things under wraps in an industry that seems to be overrun by leaked details and content. So here it is ladies and gentlemen!

So this has that darker and grittier tone that recent superhero movies have been going for and I must say this is very reminiscent of Days of future past which I can't say is a bad thing. I am actually 100% behind this film now. I think this is a stellar cast and I'm a huge fan of Trank's Chronicle so I'm hoping this is pretty good.

What to watch: The Wedding Ringer (2015)

I'll admit I'm not the biggest Kevin Hart fan but I also don't dislike him enough to warrant not watching his films so I decided to watch his latest film and something he's been strongly promoting over Twitter.
The Wedding Ringer is a simple comedy with an easy story to follow. Doug Harris played by Josh Gad is a wealthy but socially inept young man who's by some miracle landed the girl of his dreams (Kaley Cuoco) but weeks before he is set to marry, Harris realizes he doesn't have any close friends to serve as his groomsmen! In comes Jimmy Callahan the founder and CEO of Best Man, Inc. who helps Harris create a group of non existent friends with whom he has two weeks to pull off the biggest "little white lie" in wedding history.
How was this movie? Well it was very decent. Nothing surprising from a Kevin Hart led comedy that is basically a mash between Hitch (2005) and Wedding Crashers (2005) which as you can see were both surprisingly released in 2005! Honestly that is all I could think about while watching this film. This film shared the same tone and a lot of the same jokes. If you liked either of those films which I won't lie I actually did, this should be right up your alley.
The movie did have many faults but that might just be nitpicking on my part since I didn't have high hopes for this in the first place. One of the biggest problems I did have was the forced and underdeveloped love subplot between Hart's character and Cuoco's sister in the film. It felt as if the two originally had more scenes together with maybe some clever flirtatious banter but that wasn't present so I couldn't help dislike that part of the film. There's some other things as well but I don't feel comfortable speaking about those since the film is fairly new and it'd start getting spoilerish.
My verdict? If you're a Kevin Hart fan which I know a lot of people are then go see this in theaters. If you liked Hitch or Wedding Crashers see it as well but if you want MY personal opinion just wait until this is available for rent.

Actor Simon Pegg to co-write Star Trek 3!

Actor Simon Pegg who played Scotty in both previous installments of Star Trek is apparently on board to co-write the script as well as portraying one of the main characters in the film!
According to deadline Pegg will co write alongside Doug Jung and will be directed by Justin Lin. Pegg has co written before with Edgar Wright in Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz and The Worlds End so there's  no doubt he has the talent.

Fan Cast: Gwendoline Christie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Since I first was introduced to Gwendoline Christie in her role as Brienne of Tarth in Game of Thrones I've been a fan of hers and hearing that she'd been casted in both The Hunger Games franchise and the upcoming Star Wars ep. 7 I was happy to see that she'd get a lot more of the exposure she deserves. Now as I was going through some current movie news it finally hit me who she'd be perfect to play in the Marvel cinematic universe!
Carol Danvers otherwise known as Captain Marvel and formerly Ms. Marvel in the marvel comics is one of the characters that  Kevin Feige and Co. confirmed would get her own solo film. Danver's story is said to be that of an Air Force pilot who gains super powers from the fusing of her own and Kree (an alien race seen in Guardians of the Galaxy) genes. Little is known about casting as of right now for the female lead but a lot of speculation has been going around and some have said Natalie Dormer would be a good choice and that got me thinking about her cast mate in both GOT and Hunger Games: MockingJay Gwendoline Christie. Christie stands at 6'3 and is extremely charismatic  but that's not it! She's already right under marvels nose since she is reportedly playing a female Stormtrooper in Star Wars ep. 7 since this is all under disneys ownership. I would love to see this great actress bring something more than just good looks to the MCU since it seems some of marvels female characters are rather bland.
Do you think this is a good choice or not? If so let me know in the comments here or any of the social media outlets. Once again thanks for reading.

What to watch: Whiplash (2014)

Wow....I finally had the chance to see this and I don't think I've ever been so excited for something only to have it completely shatter my expectations!
Whiplash is the very definition of intense and after this I'd be utterly disappointed if J.K. Simmons doesn't get that Oscar for best Supporting actor. The is a prime example of how the ending of a film when done right can stir up some indescribable emotions. Watching this had me on the edge of my seat which might surprise some since it's a film about Jazz music of all things!
Miles Teller delivers a stellar performance and I'm still in disbelief at how real and and scary Simmons is as Fletcher. Not surprisingly the music in the film both score and otherwise played by the band in the film was great and I feel that this movie will make a jazz fan out of many.
Not much more can be said on my part besides how much I loved this movie and it's last twenty minutes were just something that has to be witnessed both as a film fan and music lover alike. Go check this out as soon as possible!

Fantastic Four (2015) trailer to debut with Kingsman: The Secret Service

So a couple days ago it was announced that we'd get our first look at Fox's Fantastic Four reboot with the trailer premiering in front of Kingsman: The Secret Service and even if I do have pretty low expectations for this marvel movie I'm still curious to see what it's ultimately going to be like. Honestly I'm very excited for Kingsman and I've been hearing very positive reviews from people who've seen early screenings! This is just one more reason to go see Kingsman the day it comes out and if you're also interested in seeing that trailer for Fantastic Four be sure to check that out.

It was confirmed today that actor Tom Hardy who was supposed to play villain Rick Flagg in the upcoming adaptation of Suicide Squad has apparently dropped out! The studios have reached out to actor Jake Gyllenhaal to take his place but that is still uncertain. Hardy's reason for leaving is scheduling conflicts according to sources. What to watch: American Sniper (2015)

I don't understand people who say that this film is heavy handed with it's message of patriotism! The film is about an American hero, it's called American Sniper and it's directed by Clint Eastwood....one of the most patriotic dudes in the industry. If you see all of that and complain about the abundance of patriotism and pride in America then why oh why did you even consider watching this? Anyway if you're not one of those persons I don't see how someone can't enjoy this.
Bradley Cooper plays native Texan and all around badass Navy Seal Chris Kyle who after witnessing the horrors of terrorism decided to join the Navy and quickly become "the deadliest sniper in history". Cooper delivers a good performance as Kyle and Eastwood gives an intense and tragic look into the lives of the brave men and women of our armed forces. During his four tours in the Middle East we see Chris Kyle struggle with his sense of duty to his brothers out in the field while trying to cope with his family back home who seem to need him more than ever. A lot of issues amongst the military communtiy are tackled here like the difficulty adjusting to civilian life and the loss of brothers in arms so while I'm not sure how much of this story is true I did feel a sense sadness knowing there are men and women out there dealing with these issues.
The film seems to perfectly balance drama and action so I don't see anyone getting bored if they only came to see an intense war flick so that's a plus. All in all I'm very glad I watched this and I could definently recommend this to just about anyone.

What to watch: Top Five (2014)

So I saw Top Five a few days ago and I had a little trouble figuring out what it is I thought about it. Chris Rock wrote and directed this film and it feels a lot like another film starring Adam Sandler called Funny People minus some of the drama which in my opinion was a good thing. In this film Rock plays a character named Andre Allen who lives the busy life of a Hollywood comedy icon who's trying to change the direction of his career by starting in big budget drama period pieces. Allen is set to marry his reality star girlfriend Erica Long played by Gabrielle Union and on the days before his wedding decides to let reporter Chelsea Brown (Rosario Dawson) follow him to see what a day in the life of the real Andre Allen is like.
The characters in this film are somewhat likeable and charming while the comedy is funny but not as great as expected. The two leads share inner struggles and we see their relationship start to grow as expected while seeing their problems through flashbacks and anecdotes.
I laughed several times and the overall story was interesting but its main fault was how predictable this film was. Having seen Funny People before I feel that this movie has been done before so nothing surprised me even when the film tried to get serious and sentimental. Don't get me wrong I enjoyed the movie but it didn't have that wow factor that I expected from a Chris Rock written and Directed film. If you're a big Rock fan and  can't wait to see this then sure check it out in theaters but if not then I'd say wait until it's available for rent.

Rumor: Batman vs Superman will be in two parts?

So this image was posted on imgur this morning and as of right now it's strictly rumor and hasn't been confirmed by any credible sources as real but it does raise the question of whether a two part movie would be smart let alone possible? Is it possible? Yes and it would make sense that the movie would focus on batman since we've already focused on supes in Man of Steel. I'm not 100% sure how I feel about this.

Trailer Talk: Chappie (2015) second official trailer.

A second official trailer for Neill Blomkamp's latest SciFi film Chappie was released today and I must say this trailer boasts an almost completely different tone from what we saw in the first trailer! I remember reading a while back that chappie would be a comedy and that was somewhat visible in the first trailer but after seeing this new one today I get the feeling that this next film will be a lot like District 9 and Elysium. Now I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing since I loved everything about District 9 and even if the story was very flawed I very much enjoyed the visuals and the world Blompkamp created but I was really hoping this would be a bit different and from what we saw here today it doesn't look like it. I'm still interested in seeing this and Blompkamp is still one of my favorite new visionary directors and I'm hoping that even if this does turn out to be similar to his last movies it'll be worthwhile. What did you think of the new trailer for Chappie? Will you be seeing this? If this is the first you're hearing of this movie i'd love to here about what you thought of this trailer and then maybe check out the first to discuss the differences between these two trailers. Once again i'd love to here your thoughts so feel free to leave a comment here or on any of the social media outlets I share this on.

First official Ant-Man trailer now available!

The first teaser trailer is here and it's no surprise that Paul Rudd is Paul Rudd in this trailer! He and everything about the movie looks like a lot of fun and once again i'm looking forward to the next marvel movie! Check out the first trailer here now!

First official poster and first look at Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

While we wait for the first trailer for the next solo superhero venture by marvel we're teased with a very minimalistic (pun intended) and clever poster. If it's proving hard to find a microscope to see what our hero will look like don't worry because Entertainment Weekly has also given us our first human sized look at Paul Rudd in the Ant-Man costume.
This film is looking to be as much as a gamble for marvel as Guardians of the Galaxy was since he's a lesser known albeit original member of the avengers. The release date is July 17th and it seems it doesn't have any real competition that weekend as of yet.

What to watch: Calvary (2014)

Calvary came out of nowhere and jumped right into my top five this year! I'd heard almost nothing about this until about two weeks ago and all I did here were raving reviews so I had to find out what all the buzz was about?
So without giving away too much this movie is about a priest who is threatened by a mysterious person in his church, he is given a week to try and gather his flock who all seem to have a reason to have a grudge against him and all seem to be struggling with their faith. This film does a great job keeping you guessing right until the end and surprisingly it's full of big laughs and great performances all around.
This movie features some of my favorite characters I've seen all year and the film itself is heartfelt, fun and even rather tragic at times which is all to be expected from such a great dark comedy. The scenery is amazing and every scene is beautifully shot providing many wonderful stills that I've screenshoted and shared with you today.
Like I said before this film is one of the best I've seen all year but that is rather trivial depending on what you're asking. You definitely have to have an idea as to what this is before watching this or else it might fall flat and you won't be able to appreciate it for what it is. If you're ready for a great story with dysfunctional characters and some morbid but still not tasteless jokes than this is something you'd enjoy and maybe even love! Like I've said before this was a beautiful movie and here are a few more of my favorite shots.
And another that seemed to share a certain theme.
